Ta`awwudh is an Arabic term used to refer to the phrase:
A`udhu billahi minash-shaitanir-rajim
"I seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, the accursed one."
It is often recited by Muslims before reciting the Qur'an and before beginning a task.
The Tasmiyah is the opening line: Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim
"In the name of Allah, who is the most compassionate & most merciful."

ReplyDeleteThey are arabic. For example, ta'awwudh is the masdar/verbal noun of the verb تعوّذ from baab تفَعُّل .
DeleteTasmiya is an arabic noun meaning "name, designation". In the hanbali madhab, the tasmiya refers to saying only "bismillah" since the title refers to a name. Whilst "basmalah" refers to the ayah of the Qur'an "bismillahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheemi"
